WELCOME TO EGRETTA!
The premise of Egretta is to connect you to nature and the environment.
My goal through my writing and images is for you to feel more connected to nature - thus cultivating balance, positivity, and appreciation, and bringing environmental awareness.
What does Egretta mean?
Egretta is a scientific name for “snowy egret” (among many other egret species), which can be found in California. Those little elegant white birds you may see in the fields while driving on the freeway are egrets! Egrets hold a special place for me because they are one of the species of birds that I learned in school during my environmental studies, which further increase my awareness and love of nature!
THE CREATOR OF EGRETTA

Hi! I'm Monica and I am the founder of Egretta.
I am a Northern California native. I work in the environmental field as a fisheries biologist. I've always had a passion for animals, nature, and the environment.
Through my work experience as a fisheries biologist, I have gained knowledge of the endangered and threatened fish species in the California Central Valley. I have also developed an understanding of the delicate balance between fish, people, and water. The needs of people are ever increasing while the natural resources are continuously depleting.
My mission is to help people become more connected to nature and increase their awareness of the challenges we face in our environment, through writing, projects, and imagery.
I want to inspire change in people to be better stewards of the land, rivers, forests, and the ocean. But it all starts with you and me.
So let’s create change together!
Conservation is a state of harmony between men and land.
